Hole Station is a former railway halt that closed in 1965 and is now run as a small woodland nature reserve with campsites in clearings. There is no car access past the car park, so you wheel your kit in on big barrows (a few yards to about 200) and walk round the trees to pick a pitch. Nobody under 18 is allowed, and there are no groups or stag and hen parties.

You can bring your own tent, bring a campervan, roof tent or trailer tent up to 6m for a gravel hardstanding, or rent a ready-set-up two-bedroom tent with airbeds and a fully equipped cooking shelter. Every pitch has its own shelter, and campfires are a big part of the place: you hire a firepit, buy kiln-dried logs on site and cannot bring or collect your own wood. There is a breakfast cafe in the garden and a restored 1920s Norwegian railway carriage, the Bluebell, that sleeps four.
