Croyde Coastal Camping is a small private field tucked behind the dunes of Croyde Bay, run by the Maddocks family who live next door and have been in Croyde for three generations. There are only 14 pitches, each one level, fairly spacious and fitted with an electric hook-up, with room to park one car beside the tent. Two ten-by-ten metre arena pitches are there for bigger tents, and a handful of pitches take a small campervan (T4 or T5 size) as well as a tent.

The village, with its pubs, cafes and surf shops, is a gentle walk away, and the Tarka Trail is close by for easy cycling. On site you get toilets, showers, a washing-up station, free wifi and a farm shop for basics. There is also a six-metre bell tent, already made up with beds, for anyone who would rather not bring a tent. Dogs, motorhomes and open fires are not allowed, and children under three are not accepted, so it suits couples and families with older children rather than anyone wanting a lively site.
