Freshwell is a family-run summer field on the slope above Croyde Bay, a couple of minutes' walk from the beach entrance and about ten minutes from the village. There are no marked pitches: you turn up, check in and put your tent wherever you like in the field, with a view over the beach from much of it. Small campervans are fine, but caravans and motorhomes are turned away, and there are no electric hook-ups, so bring a battery pack. Charging for phones is limited.

Facilities are simple and kept clean: toilets and hot showers (free, running round the clock), a communal washing-up sink, drinking water taps, a rinse bin for wetsuits and a freezer service for ice blocks. A Sri Lankan food stall runs on site. For something more comfortable there are three bell tents and a small timber glamping hut with a private garden facing the beach, both booked through Airbnb. Dogs are not allowed, groups made up only of under-18s are refused, and large same-sex groups are not taken.

Camping is charged per person per night (adults 18, children 14, under 5s free); there is no extra charge for tents or cars. Booking is by group size with a deposit (small group 1-4 people 50, medium group 5-8 people 80) and the balance paid at reception; the deposit is not an extra cost. Large groups pay in full upfront plus a behaviour bond. Glamping prices are for two people per night, from the glamping pages (booked via Airbnb, where the price may differ).
