Byreside sits on a working farm at Hamsterley, signposted off the A694 between Consett and the A1. The site has 31 hardstanding pitches, each with an electric point, and is set up for caravans, motorhomes and campervans rather than tents.
From the site you can step onto the Derwent Walk Country Park and link to the Waskerley Way or Lanchester Valley Walk, and the Coast to Coast cycle track runs alongside. Red kites, foxes and deer are regularly seen. Facilities are a heated shower and toilet block, water points, waste disposal and gas sales. Dogs are welcome on leads, and fires are not allowed.
