Burrowhead sits on the Machars coast above the Solway Firth, with views across to the Isle of Man. Alongside many privately owned holiday homes it has two main touring fields open all year, one near the toilet block, laundrette and play area and one on the seafront about 100m from the facilities, plus quieter electric-free pitches elsewhere. Tents, tourers and motorhomes are all taken, and one-night stays are allowed for tents.
You can also hire chalets and static caravans, from two-bedroom Headland and Galloway chalets to a three-bedroom caravan with sea views. The park runs a 25m outdoor pool from June to the end of September, an indoor jacuzzi and sauna, crazy golf, pitch and putt, soft play, an arcade, a cafe, takeaway, shop and family bar with a seasonal entertainment programme. It has a private water supply, so the park advises boiling drinking water. The Isle of Whithorn, with a pub and tearoom, is a couple of miles away.
