Smedmore House is a 48-pitch touring site on the Smedmore estate, an open, partly sloping field with farmland around it and views to the sea and Clavell Tower one way and the Purbeck Hills the other. Only 2 pitches are hardstanding. It is listed on the Caravan and Motorhome Club as an affiliated site, and non-members can book.

Kimmeridge Bay, also on the estate, is known for fossils and rock pools, with diving, windsurfing and a boat slipway next to the Dorset Wildlife Trust marine centre. The Dorset coast path starts nearby, and the abandoned village of Tyneham on the military ranges is a short drive, with limited opening times.

Shops are about eight miles away, so stock up first. Open May to October.
