Pencarnan is a 96-acre working farm at the far western tip of Pembrokeshire, running right down to the high-water mark at Porthsele beach. Camping here dates back to the 1950s and the same family still runs it. Two of the camping fields look over Whitesands Bay; the other two sit further back with a view towards Ramsey Island. Pitches are about 10m by 10m and are not allocated in advance, you book a field and choose your spot on arrival.

Prices are charged per person rather than per pitch, and there is no extra charge for big tents, gazebos or awnings. The loos and hot showers are included, there is a family shower room with disabled access, and a washing-up sink with hot water. In the main summer season a small shop, coffee hut, craft beer bar and wood-fired pizza operation open. Dogs on leads are welcome, and open fires are allowed on Porthsele beach, a short walk below the fields. It is exposed to the weather, so bring good pegs.
