Ocknell Campsite
Forestry England campsite on open heath in the northern New Forest, with toilets but no showers, ponies at the gate and grass or hardstanding pitches.
See all 9 photos- Dogs welcome
Ocknell sits on open heath and woodland in the quiet northern New Forest near Fritham, with ponies roaming through. Facilities are basic: toilets, washbasins, dish-washing and drinking water taps, but no showers, so it suits people happy to keep things simple. Both grass and hardstanding pitches take tents, trailer tents, caravans and motorhomes.
Walking and cycling trails run out in every direction, and the Royal Oak at Fritham is the nearest pub. Longbeech, the adults-only sister site, is about half a mile back up the road, while Ocknell takes families and dogs on leads. Rock pegs are recommended, and tents cannot be pitched on the hardstanding.
