Denny Wood is camping with the volume turned down: grass pitches separated by ferns, oaks and fallen trees, with free-roaming ponies, deer and birds for company. There are no toilets or showers, so a chemical toilet is compulsory, but there is a chemical disposal point and drinking water taps.
Walking and cycling routes start straight from the site, taking you across heath, open grassland and woodland. Beaulieu Road station is a request stop about three-quarters of a mile away. Dogs are not allowed because of ground-nesting birds, and open fires are banned.
