Facility-free Forestry England campsite in woodland and heath near Brockenhurst; bring a chemical toilet. Dogs welcome. Open summer school holidays.
See all 12 photos- Dogs welcome
Aldridge Hill is a no-frills grass campsite in the Forestry England woods above Brockenhurst, set among streams, old woodland and open heath. There are no toilet or shower blocks and no hook-ups, so you need your own chemical toilet; there is a chemical disposal point and drinking water taps.
It feels closer to wild camping than most campsites, with plenty of room for children to roam and ponies and donkeys wandering past. Brockenhurst's shops, cafes and pubs are a walk or short cycle away. Dogs are welcome on leads, barbecues must be raised off the ground and wood fires are not allowed. It opens only for short windows, mainly late June to early September, so check the dates before planning.
