Little Shelfin is a small working sheep and cattle farm a few minutes' drive from Ilfracombe and about ten minutes from Woolacombe beach. The campsite is one large, flat grass field with generous pitches: 18 have an electric hook-up and 22 do not. Each pitch is priced as a whole and has room for a tent, caravan, camper or trailer tent plus an awning, a gazebo and two cars, with up to six people included.
Facilities are plain and practical, with a toilet block and showers, water taps, hot water for washing up and a chemical toilet disposal point. Barbecues are fine if raised off the ground, and there is a dog walking area on site. The nearest supermarket and restaurants are about ten minutes by car, and a bus stop is a ten-minute walk away. It makes a cheap, uncomplicated base for the Woolacombe and Croyde beaches, the Tarka Trail and Exmoor.
