Lee Valley Campsite sits among trees at Sewardstone, on the northern edge of Chingford and just outside London's emission zones. The touring and camping area has grass and hardstanding pitches, some with electric and some premium ones with water and grey waste points, plus a separate field of privately owned holiday homes.

If you'd rather not pitch a tent there are small wooden cocoons for two, cabins for four, insulated Peaky Pods with a bathroom and kitchen area, a two-bedroom lodge called the Stirling and a three-bedroom house, the Gatehouse. The site has a shop, launderette, playground and bike hire, and Epping Forest and the Lee Valley Regional Park trails are on the doorstep. It is run by the Lee Valley Regional Park Authority, and is closed in February.
