Glamping

Lawnsgate is a working farm just outside Lealholm, run by Aidan and Ella Foord. The camping field is about an acre and slopes gently, with views across the Esk Valley and the moors beyond. There is space for tents and caravans, plus hardstanding for campervans, and electric pitches are available. The facilities are a few steps from the pitches in a converted farm building: two toilets, three free showers, an outdoor washing-up sink and a drying area for wet days.

The farm keeps cattle, sheep, pigs and hens and sells its own meat from a vending machine at neighbouring Wild Slack, a short walk across the fields. Llama trekking runs from the farm. Beyond camping you can book a restored estate cabin, a game larder chalet, an off-grid yurt, a gypsy caravan and two small Landpods, several with wood-fired hot tubs. Dogs are welcome but livestock is about, so they need to behave. Groups are not accepted.
