Higher Aunemouth has taken campers since the late 1960s and is still run by the family. It is deliberately basic: no hook-ups, composting toilets, coin-operated hot showers and drinking water taps in the fields. Tree Field is the original, ringed by mature trees. Second Field is more open with room for bigger tents and campervans. Neither has marked pitches, so you choose your spot on arrival.
Williams Field has just four tent-only pitches looking over the Avon estuary towards Burgh Island, each with its own picnic table, water supply and firebowl, plus a small wet-room with a hot shower, fridge and WC near the field entrance. Firebowls, logs and kindling can be hired or bought on site. Bantham beach and the surf are a walk away along the estuary, so the car can stay parked. It closes for the winter and reopens in April.
