The Chequers Caravan Park is a small family-run site on the main Canterbury to Folkestone road at Selsted, in the hills inland of Dover. It takes tents, caravans, motorhomes and campervans on a mix of grass and hardstanding pitches, with 16 amp electric hook-ups as standard. Many guests use it as a stopover before a ferry or the Channel Tunnel, which are 15 to 20 minutes away, but the Kent coast, Canterbury and Folkestone are all within easy reach and a bus stops at the gate.
There are separate men's and women's toilet blocks, with a newer shower block, drinking water taps and waste disposal points. The site has picnic tables, woodland areas, a children's play area and a separate space at the back for ball games, which are not allowed on the touring field. Dogs are welcome on leads. It is closed for February, and the showers and washing-up area shut for the winter months. Bookings go through an enquiry form and are confirmed by email.
