The Hideaway is a low-impact campsite in the grounds of Baxby Manor at Husthwaite, on the edge of the North York Moors and a short drive from York. There are only 32 pitches, all on grass with a fire pit each, some with a 6 amp hook-up fed by the site's own solar and battery system. A separate adults-only area called The Sanctuary sits among trees beside a stream, with no electric and no dogs. Cars park in designated areas a few metres from most pitches, and wheelbarrows are provided.
Beyond tent and campervan pitches you can stay in off-grid double or family eco pods, in Hoglet Houses (wooden cabins with log burners and USB charging, with a winter version open November to March), in Kabina glamping cabins, or in Rufus's Roost, a large lodge sleeping six. The Scandinavian-style shower block has free showers, there is a small shop and a pizza shack, and extras include a log-fired sauna, ice baths and wellness treatments. Strict quiet hours run 10pm to 7am, with no amplified music, and groups are limited to three pitches.
- Private fire pit on every pitch
- Adults-only Sanctuary pitches beside a stream
- Electric from the site's own solar system
- Free showers in a heated, award-winning block
- Sauna and ice baths on site
