Flaxton Meadows sits among farmland and heath about eight miles north-east of York. The touring field has hardstanding pitches with water and electricity, tall evergreens for privacy, and in summer grass pitches with electric for tents. Caravans, motorhomes and tents here are adults only.
The site runs on its own generated power and has a heated washroom, a small laundrette and a bar, with pizza from an airstream most evenings. There is a nature trail round the pond with nest boxes, hens to meet and hedgehog houses. Log cabins with private hot tubs are booked by phone. Fires and barbecues are banned because of the trees.
