Meelmore Lodge is a walkers' base on the Trassey Road, with the Mourne hills rising straight behind it. The campsite is a grass area behind the bistro, looking up to Hare's Gap and Slieve Meelmore. You park beside your tent, and there is a lit path to the amenity block.
It takes tents only, with no caravans, campervans or electric hook-up. Toilets and showers stay open all night and are included in the price, and there is drinking water at several points. Fire pits can be hired and logs bought on site. The same site has a 28-bed hostel with ensuite and dorm rooms, a small self-catering chalet, and a bistro open weekends all year and weekdays from April to September.
- Start the Hare's Gap and Mourne walks from the field
- Park next to your tent
- Fire pits to hire, logs on sale
- Bistro on site
- Showers and toilets open all night
