Higher Pentreath has taken campers since the 1950s and is now run by the next generation of the same family. It spreads over sloping fields above Praa Sands, with views towards the sea and a roughly six-minute walk down to the beach.

Pitches are relaxed rather than regimented: on non-electric ground you choose your spot as long as you keep about 6m from neighbours. Electric pitches are smaller (6m x 6m) and mostly flat, near the top of the lower field. One unit per pitch.

There are free showers, laundry, wifi (patchy), phone charging lockers, a freezer for ice packs and an honesty-box essentials shop. Dogs stay free on a lead, campfires and BBQs are welcome if kept off the grass, and the owners will tow you off wet slopes. Groups of under-18s are not accepted.
