Carlton Park Camping and Caravan Site

Spacious 75-pitch touring field in parkland at Saxmundham Sports Club, half a mile from the town, with free showers and electric hook-ups for tents and vans.

  • Dogs welcome

Carlton Park is a touring field on the grounds of the Saxmundham Sports and Recreational Club, a 27-acre parkland site in east Suffolk. Six acres are given over to camping, with 75 widely spaced pitches for tents, trailer tents, caravans, motorhomes and campervans. It opens from late March to the end of October.

The facilities cover the basics well: free centrally heated toilets and showers, washing-up sinks, a washing machine and tumble dryer, a freezer for ice packs, water taps across the site, lighting at night, a chemical toilet emptying point and recycling. There is an adventure playground, and bowls, boules and tennis if you bring your own kit. Electric hook-up is available for tents as well as vans, and caravans can stay all season on a seasonal pitch.

Saxmundham is half a mile away along lit streets, with pubs, takeaways, shops, two supermarkets and a railway station for Ipswich and Lowestoft. Aldeburgh and Southwold are a few miles to the east, and the sea is about five miles off.
