By The Way sits on Lower Station Road in Tyndrum, where the West Highland Way passes the gate. It is built mainly around walkers: a small-tent field for backpackers at 16 pounds a head, a four-star hostel, and a long list of roofed alternatives including trekker huts, camping cabins, posh pods, glamping huts, hobbit houses and two self-catering chalets.

Tents must be no bigger than a two-person backpacking tent. The motorhome park is set among trees off the A82 with power, TV hook-up, waste disposal and free wifi. Wifi is free throughout, there is a pot-wash room with laundry and a drying room for wet gear.

Huts and pods come without bedding or cooking gear, so bring your own. Dogs are fine in tents, trekker huts and camping cabins but not in the hostel, hobbit houses or chalets. Tyndrum's shops and cafes are within walking distance.
