Blackdown Yurts is a small family-run glamping field at Blackborough, between Cullompton and the Somerset border, inside the Blackdown Hills National Landscape. Three large yurts (Badger, Buzzard and Woodpecker) sleep six and the smaller Willow sleeps four. All have proper beds made up on arrival, a wood-burning stove, a fire pit and a kettle barbecue outside.
Cooking happens in a camp kitchen beside each yurt, with a gas hob and oven and all the pots and crockery, and there is a communal barn with a fuller kitchen, a lounge with a log burner and a fridge for each yurt. Each yurt also has a private bathroom in the barn with a hot shower and flushing loo, plus a compost loo close by. There is no electricity in the yurts, no wifi and no TV.
Well-behaved dogs are welcome on a lead, and the owners can supply a travel cot and high chair. Beyond the field there are footpaths up Yonder Hill and on to Blackborough Common, and the Devon coast is about 40 minutes away.
- Private shower room per yurt in a shared barn
- Wood-burning stove, fire pit and barbecue at every yurt
- Dogs welcome, up to two per booking
- Own borehole drinking water
- No wifi or TV, deliberately
