Watercress Lodges and Campsite
Tent field, bell tent, safari tents and two-bedroom lodges on a Hampshire farm beside the Watercress Line steam railway at Ropley.
- Some dogs
- Glamping
Watercress Lodges sits on Dean Farm at Ropley, next to the Mid Hants steam railway, so trains stop overnight at the station and you can sometimes hear them or catch a drift of steam across the field. There is a flat grass camping area for your own tent, a ready-pitched bell tent, two safari tents with wood burners, and a row of railway-cottage-style lodges with their own patios. It is about four miles from Alresford and ten from Winchester.
Camping is in a grassy field with cars parked a short walk away rather than on the pitch, drinking water taps down the side of the field, a shower block and a freezer for ice packs. Barbecues are fine if you raise them off the grass, but open fires are not allowed and neither are dogs on the camping field, safari tents or bell tent. Two of the lodges accept pets. Quiet time runs from 10pm to 9am and day visitors are not allowed.
