Ling's Meadow is a four-acre meadow on a small alpaca and Shetland sheep farm at Hepworth, north-east of Bury St Edmunds. It keeps numbers low on purpose: five tent pitches, one double pitch for two tents, two canvas bell tents and a geodesic StarDome, spread out so you rarely see your neighbours. Cars stay in a car park by the gate and wheelbarrows are provided for carrying gear to the pitch.
Everything runs on the sun and wood. There are composting loos, a shower heated by a wood-fired rocket stove (about 20 minutes to warm up), a covered camp kitchen with a cob pizza oven, and 12v USB charging but no mains sockets. Every pitch has its own fire pit and picnic bench, and bikes can be borrowed for the Peddars Way, Wolf Way and Rebellion Way routes nearby. Pets are not allowed because the meadow is left wild for wildlife. The whole site can be hired for groups of up to 25.
- Five tent pitches, two bell tents and a StarDome, with 10m or more between pitches
- Fire pit and picnic bench on every pitch, wood and charcoal on sale
- Solar power, composting loos and wood-fired showers
- Free bike loan and a 10% discount for arriving by public transport or bike
- Whole-site hire for up to 25 people
