Shortlake Farm is the quieter sister of Eweleaze Farm, reached down a no-through lane from Osmington village on the Dorset coast. The camping is spread over several fields with views across the water to Weymouth and Portland. Nobody allocates pitches: you choose where to put your tent when you arrive, and you can park next to it.

It runs for only four weeks each summer (3 to 31 August in 2026) and charges per person, per dog and per vehicle rather than per pitch, so extra tents and gazebos cost nothing. Caravans and motorhomes are not allowed, though small VW-sized campervans are. Fires and BBQs are fine if raised off the grass, and logs are sold in the farm shop.

Facilities are simple: compost toilets, showers and hot-water washing-up sinks scattered around the site, a shop open until 9pm, a pizza van and haybales for children to play on. The beach is a ten-minute walk down steps just west of the site, and Eweleaze Farm, with its restaurant and activities, is a twelve-minute walk along the coast path. You can also hire furnished 4- or 6-person bell tents.
