Comforts Farm is a no-frills campsite on a nine-acre meadow off Pallance Road in Northwood, about a mile from Cowes and handy for the Isle of Wight Festival. The field is lined with trees and ancient coppice, slopes gently from the top, flattens in the middle and drops to a few small plateaus by the stream at the bottom.

There are around 50 pitches, 27 of them with electric hook-up, mostly the larger pitches around the edge of the field. The main block has three showers each for men and women, heated by solar with gas and electric back-up, and a washing-up room with deep sinks and a spin drier; two further toilet blocks sit at the far ends of the field.

Pricing is refreshingly simple, with a flat pitch fee covering two adults and two children. Dogs are welcome on leads and there is a paddock for walking them. The Travellers Joy pub is a few minutes' walk away and a main bus route is about half a mile from the gate.
