Thorness Bay is a large Parkdean Resorts park spread over 187 acres of wooded hillside on the north coast between Cowes and Newtown, with views over the Solent and a walk down to the shingle beach at Thorness Bay. It is quieter and more tucked away than the island's other big parks, and a car is pretty much essential: the nearest bus is a 1.7 mile walk along a lane with no pavement.
Accommodation ranges from static caravans and lodges (some dog friendly) to two-bedroom chalets and glamping safari tents, and the park also takes tents, trailer tents, touring caravans and motorhomes on standard, electric and serviced pitches. Facilities include an indoor heated pool with flume, an adventure playground, a sports court, kids' clubs, evening shows, a bar and restaurant, a fish and chip takeaway, Costa coffee, a convenience shop and a launderette.
The park is part way through a multi-million-pound makeover due to finish in spring 2027, adding high ropes, soft play, escape rooms, a sports bar and a grill restaurant. Parkdean bookings come with discounted Wightlink and Red Funnel ferry fares.
