Anchor Barrow is a family-run site of about 16 acres on St Georges Hill, on the edge of Perranporth. It is open-field camping on two grass fields with wide views over farmland rather than the sea. The slope means some pitches are flatter than others and the site is exposed, but on the non-electric fields you choose your own spot, so you can hunt out some shelter. Three footpaths run off the site, and the beach is about 25 minutes on foot.
The site makes more of an evening than most field campsites. There is a licensed shop, a bar serving Cornish drinks that is open until dusk, a breakfast trailer for coffee and pastries each morning, and feast nights with local musicians several nights a week. Facilities include hot showers with hairdryers, two accessible wet rooms, a laundrette, a covered prep and washing-up area with a fridge and ice-block freezer, an EV charging point and outdoor showers for sandy feet or dogs.
Groups are welcome but must be agreed by phone first, and the site enforces its rules strictly. Gazebos, bigger tents and extra cars are not charged for. Music has to be off by 10pm. Everyone under 18 must be with an adult staying on site.
- Walk to Perranporth beach on footpaths off the site
- On-site bar, shop, breakfast trailer and live music nights
- Groups accepted by phone arrangement
- No charge for gazebos, larger tents or extra cars
- Fire pits to hire, large dog roaming area
