Kilvrecht Campsite

Kilvrecht is a no-frills forest campsite about three miles west of Kinloch Rannoch on the south side of the loch, run by Forestry and Land Scotland. Tents, caravans and motorhomes pitch in clearings among the trees, and a warden collects the money in the evening, so you can usually just turn up and choose a spot.
There are no showers. Instead the toilet blocks have wet-room cubicles with a sink and hot water for washing, with hooks for solar showers. You also get drinking-water taps, dishwashing sinks, a chemical disposal point and grey-water points, plus fifteen electric pitches and three hardstandings. Shops are in Kinloch Rannoch.
Open fires and fire bowls are banned because of the surrounding forest, but gas and charcoal barbecues raised off the ground are fine. Dogs are welcome on leads. Schiehallion and the Rannoch shore walks are close by.
