Clive and Julie Preston have run Fakenham Farm on Eddington Road, St Helens, for over twenty years, and keep a deliberately small campsite on its grassy slope looking out over the Solent and its sea forts. Five caravan or motorhome pitches face the view, and a more secluded corner takes five family tents. The site is a Camping and Caravanning Club Certificated Site, so tourers need to be members.

Facilities are a toilet, shower, chemical disposal point and metered hook-ups, plus a free barbecue area. The farmyard is busy in the day with The View licensed cafe, a plant nursery, a tyre fitter and an art studio. The beach and St Helens village with its pub, shop and green are about five minutes on foot, buses pass the gate, and the main gates are locked at night with keys for guests. Well-behaved children and dogs are welcome; no more than two units may book together.
