Camp Wight sits on about 30 acres of young and ancient woodland on a small family farm at Ningwood, between Shalfleet and Yarmouth. Pitches are big, unmarked and tucked into clearings, so most campers barely see their neighbours. Tents, campervans, caravans and coachbuilt motorhomes up to around 7.5m are all taken, and there is a double pitch for large tents and RVs.

The site is deliberately off grid: there is no electric hook-up, no chemical toilet disposal and no lighting. Instead you get composting toilets, solar-warmed showers, mains water at outdoor sinks and solar USB charging. Campfires are allowed in the site's upcycled washing-machine-drum firepits, which are hired by the night with wood supplied.

If you do not have kit, there are three insulated geodesic domes with woodburners (one left unfurnished), pre-pitched 8-person tents and a bell tent, rigged Hennessy hammocks and a Tentsile tree tent for two. The owners live on site and the site is open all year, though access is limited in wet winter weather. The Horse & Groom pub is a short walk away and the number 7 bus stops outside.
